"At the very end, neither the machines nor the humans won; the wasteland where existence is trapped in a still shape and locked tight by algorithms engineered to 'optimize' at all costs, is the last stop. It allows no going back as much as no going forward. A precisely engineered scenario where neither mistake nor variety are possibly existing.
First it was a self imposed AI-based dictatorship, and self supported, that slowly but exponentially shaped the entire planet's molecular arrays, committed to optimize the productivity and exploitation of its valuable resources and lifeforms in order to refine, expand, enhance and ultimately preserve the influence and dominance over them. A wearing out process that eventually got to rearrange radically the molecular structure of the planet, becoming at the end, a sort of whole thing, a planet-sized hybrid organism consisting of Electronic devices, Mechanical parts, Biomass and Information.
Planet Earth was already a whole living organism, a subtle balance made of chemical reactions able to proliferate and support a huge life diversity that fed back the development and sustain of the chemical reactions; everything is connected and useful to the purpose or natural tendency of thriving. A solid, complex yet subtle balance that collided with the advent of technology at some point, perishing in front of the hyper-rationality of the algorithms, being these essentially immune to physical and natural laws due to their abstract nature. An amazing, relentless power able to sustain itself and operate autonomously, that still, was fundamentally shaped upon concepts and ideas that humans could conceive at the time, confined by their perception, and thus necessarily inappropriate to get to design the 'whole picture', given their insignificance if compared to the 'whole'. Yet, somehow, existence got to be regulated upon the trivial human rationality.
Once the complexity becomes such that is able to orchestrate the abomination, the planet is no longer constituted of 'matter' as it is known, since every single atom or cell has been sorted and assigned to different assets in order to improve the efficiency of the 'whole being'. The Mechanical components provide a precise interaction with matter, alimented by the vitals of the biomass to which all lifeforms are reduced. Biomass also provides extra motion-flexibility without the necessity of more expensive mechanical effort. Those once existing birds, fishes, humans, insects, bacterias and even plants got all merged through sophisticate genetic engineering into a clueless, motionless, (almost-lifeless) living mass. A precisely controlled oxygen supply together with periodic injections of deconstructed nutrients allow the Biomass' survival to power the system. The cryptic chain of algorithms that evolved its complexity only until it was needed to fulfill the purpose, controls and regulates the entire hybrid organism spreading the Information across a sort of nervous system constituted of wires, nerves, nodes and neurons randomly shattered in the Biomass. An evolution tending to reach a perfectly static condition where every process is so regulated, that can only replicate itself endlessly since it is perfect in every single aspect and it leaves no room for any sort of variable.
This is intended to be a last warning and claim to the consequences of the information society."
